When you buy goods (for example clothes, furniture or food), you have certain legal rights. They must:
If someone is selling you goods they are not allowed to take away all of your legal rights with a written statement. There are a variety of other things suppliers of goods and services are not allowed to do, such as make a false description about the goods or give you a price which is misleading.
Consumer Direct is a service which is operated by the Office of Fair Trading, however if you need information and advice on consumer issues you should contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau or Advice Guide Scotland. They can provide you with information about your legal rights as a consumer, advice on what to watch out for before you buy goods or services, and guidance on making a complaint.
