Creative Scotland is the lead body for the funding and development of the arts, screen and creative industries in Scotland. Creative Scotland took over the functions of the Scottish Arts Council and Scottish Screen in July 2010.
Creative Scotland is a non-departmental public body, which is one of the main channels for Government funding for the arts in Scotland. Most of their funding comes from the Scottish Government but they also distribute National Lottery funds.
As a non-departmental public body they are independent from, but accountable to, the Scottish Government. Creative Scotland inherits the funding commitments of the Scottish Arts Council and they will fund a range of arts organisations annually for their programmes and also make project and lottery grants to individual artists and arts organisations.

Creative Scotland also provide information and advice as well as funding. They work at international, national and local level and aim to: invest in talented people and exciting ideas, develop the creative industries and champion everything that’s good about Scottish creativity.
