Just about everyone has experienced a headache at some point in their life, and some people suffer with them more than others.
There can be a variety of reasons for headaches, including stress, anxiety or a medical condition. If you are staring at a TV screen or computer screen then it's worth taking a break so you aren't straining your eyes as this sometimes results in a headache.
Many headaches can be dealt with by taking pain medication such as paracetamol or ibuprofen.
There are different types of headaches:
Tension headache - often associated with stress, anxiety, depression and hunger
Migraine - may make you feel sick and sensitive to light and sound
Hangover headache - usually caused by dehydration as a result of too much alcohol
It's also worth looking at your lifestyle to see if there's anything you're doing that may trigger headaches if you are getting lots of them.
With migraines it may be too much coffee, chocolate, diary products, or tea amongst other things. A food diary could help you work out if any foods in particular trigger a migraine.
If you are having lots of headaches, painkillers aren’t working or you are at all worried, go and see your doctor. This is especially true if you also get a stiff neck and a fever as well as a headache.
