Unfortunately aside from the X Factor there is no straight forward career path to fame or making it as a rock star. If taking tips from Simon Cowell is not your cup of tea there are still loads of other people out there who are willing to give their time money and expertise to encourage some homegrown talent.
To find out about rock-schools and band mentoring programmes in your area as well as promoters, gig venues and equipment hire, get in touch with the Scottish Music Centre.
Probably the best way of getting gigs and finding promoters who suit you is to talk to bands who are already doing what you want to do. Check out local music websites or get in touch with your area youth music forum if you need some help getting connected.

Recording Studios and the Creative Scotland Demo Fund
The Creative Scotland (formally the Scottish Arts Council) Demo Fund gives money to recording studios across Scotland so that they can invite new up and coming bands to record their music. For more information take a look at the Demo Fund video.
