If you live in Scotland and you’re between 16 – 18 you could be saving loads of money on your travel.
Make sure you have a Young Scot National Entitlement Card and you will be entitled to:
- A bus concessions card giving you one third off most bus fares.
- A Scottish Youth Railcard giving you up to 50% off rail travel.
- Ferry vouchers for two free return journeys to the mainland a year if you live on a Scottish island.
You don’t need to apply for your discount vouchers, as you will automatically be sent out to when you turn 16.

If you‘re a full-time volunteer working in Scotland, and you are between 19 – 25 you might also be entitled to travel discounts. To qualify you must:
- Have a Young Scot National Entitlement Card.
- Volunteer for 30 hours or more per week.
- And have been living in Scotland for over a year.
Your local authority will be able to issue your travel discount card. Ask your volunteer organisation to give you a letter confirming that you volunteer for them. Bring along the letter together with a colour passport sized photograph when applying.
